Many people think that gilding is a very difficult process available to a narrow circle of artisans. However, this is not quite true. Gilding can be available to an unprepared person. For this, the SOMA Jewellery brand has developed an online course, in which everyone can not only create a pair of earrings with their own hands, but can also, under the guidance of the brand founder Sofia Hallik, get acquainted with the basics of this technology.

One can take the course at home at any convenient time. Each participant will receive not only access to video materials, but also to a starter kit, which includes all the necessary materials to create a pair of earrings using a gilding technique. At the end of the course, participants will be able to independently improve their skills and apply gold or silver leaf on various surfaces (paintings, furniture and decor elements, jewellery, etc.)

The online course includes:

• a starter kit for creating a pair of earrings using a gilding technique with gold/silver leaf (to be sent to participants by mail)
• a step-by-step video instruction: surface preparation, applying gold and silver leaf to the surface, varnishing, assembling the finished jewellery
• overview of the necessary materials and tools
• a checklist with links to the materials used

The cost of the course includes all the necessary materials and tools to create one pair of earrings plated with gold or silver leaf, as well as access to video tutorials. On average, it takes about 2 days to complete the course, taking into account the preparation of the surface and the drying of the layers of glue and varnish.
